About Dr. Herbst



Dr. Herbst is a graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine and has been practicing Psychiatry since 1989. After graduating from UCLA, Dr. Herbst completed an interniship in Internal Medicine in San Francisco and then completed his residency and chief residency at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute.

After completing his residency, Dr. Herbst served as attending physician at San Francisco General Hospital and as assistant professor of psychiatry at the UCSF school of medicine where he earned added qualifications as an addiction psychiatrist and pursued research in the psychopharmacology of substance dependence and treatment of patients strugging with dual diagnoses of substance dependence and major mental disorders.

Dr. Herbst has also served as the director of the dual diagnosis clinic at Long Beach VA hospital and on the Faculties of UC Irvine and the University of Hawaii School of Medicine. He is currently a member of the clinical faculty at Keck-USC School of Medicine in addition to his practice.
